Emotional affairs of “we’re just friends”

“We’re just friends” is a statement that becomes so overused not only by showbiz personalities, but by ordinary folks too.  This statement may be true in principle, but what about feelings of the heart?

For instance, Jenny’s best friend is Dan.  They eat-out together, chat on the internet a lot, and  text each other always.  Dan is single.  Jenny is married.

Jenny hides Dan’s text messages from her husband, as well as deletes emails and chat archives.   There is no physical intimacies between the two friends.  Everyone, even her husband  knows that they are just friends, or are they really?

Having an emotional affair is a very dangerous level to be in, especially when one is married.  According to cnn.com, emotional cheating steers clear of physical intimacy, but it does involve secrecy, deception, and therefore betrayal.

So ask yourself if you are having an emotional affair.  If yes, the affair must end.  Yes, It hurts, but it’s a dangerous level to be in, unless you want your marriage to end.

And just what Harry said to Sally:  “….being secretly attracted to the person you’re just friends with, which you probably are. I mean, come on, who the hell are we kidding, let’s face it…..men and women can’t be just friends.”
